Live streamed athletic events will receive an upgrade in quality starting Tuesday as the Milligan athletics department and communications department announced they plan to introduce high definition (HD) to their live video broadcasts.

Milligan College's athletics season is just over two months away, and head coaches Doneva Bays, Lisa Buckley, Adam Laney and Chris Layne have officially released their schedules for the upcoming season.

Supporters of Milligan Athletics were able to beat the rain and play a round of golf to help raise money through the 23rd annual Greenwell-Aldridge Memorial Golf Classic on Monday.

15 Milligan teams recognized as NAIA Scholar-Teams

The NAIA announced the list of teams that have earned the distinction for NAIA Scholar-Teams for the 2016-17 academic year. Milligan College placed 15 teams on the list with the women's basketball team leading the way with a 3.584 grade-point average. The women's volleyball team followed closely with a 3.578 GPA.

Supporters of Milligan Athletics endured the heat and enjoyed a round of golf Monday afternoon to help raise money at the 24th annual Greenwell-Aldridge Memorial Golf Classic. While gloomy skies threatened last year's event with rain, the 2018 event was quite the opposite, as it featured scorching heat with temperatures in the upper 80's.

Hannah Segrave, a 2017 Milligan alumna, was recently honored by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame as the 2017 female amateur athlete of the year. The announcement was made earlier last month, and Segrave was honored last weekend at the TN Sports Hall of Fame's induction banquet at the Nashville Omni.

Milligan College has hired Manuel (Manny) Castro to serve as assistant athletic trainer beginning in the 2018-19 season. Castro is a recent graduate of Appalachian State University and East Tennessee State University.

Nathan Meade resigns as head baseball coach

Nathan Meade announced Monday his resignation as head coach of Milligan College's baseball program. Meade played for Milligan and graduated in 2005 before becoming head coach in 2007. He last spring completed his 12th season at the helm of the baseball program.

This year's FIFA World Cup™ was defined by upsets and surprises, but for Milligan College junior Luis de la Torre, France's victory on Sunday was predicted in advance. In April, de la Torre presented research on how to predict the World Cup champion through statistics at the college's annual Rise Above Research Conference, tabbing France as the eventual winner.
