Milligan welcomes Spencer Scarth as head swim coach

Milligan College has hired Spencer Scarth to serve as head coach of the swim team. Scarth is a former NCAA Division III All-American who comes most recently from Vassar College, where he served as assistant coach.

Yhorman Prieto of Caracas, Venezuela, is the first signee for Milligan College's newly established eSports program. Prieto is a diamond level player for League of Legends, signifying he is among the top 4.25 percent of players in the United States for League of Legends.

Skyler Barnett has been named the new head coach for Milligan College baseball. Barnett is a Johnson City native and comes most recently from Walters State Community College where he served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Russell honored as AAC individual champion of character

Milligan senior Jonathan Russell earned the 2018-19 AAC individual co-champion of character award, announced the AAC office Monday at the annual CAA/FAR spring meeting. The award is given to select AAC student-athletes each year based on their character and service toward their team, institution, conference and community.

Duard Walker Women's All-Sports Trophy 2019

For the second time since the award was introduced in 2015, Milligan College has earned the Appalachian Athletic Conference Duard Walker Women's All-Sports Trophy as the conference's most outstanding women's sports program. The league office announced the standings and award winners Monday at the AAC spring meeting.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 12 Milligan teams earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2018-19 academic year. These 12 teams were among 1,939 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

Men's Basketball Team

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the seventh annual Team Academic Excellence Awards and 2018-19 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men's collegiate basketball teams and student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC recognized the Milligan College men's basketball team with the team honor. Aaron Levarity, Alex Jones, Desean Green, Tyler Nichols, Bo Pless and Nathan Hastings were recognized with the individual honor.

For the second year in a row, Milligan College women's soccer head coach Lisa Buckley spent a portion of her summer coaching soccer in Europe. This summer she was able to continue working with the group she worked with last year, PROEM ministries, in Poland, before traveling to Oberursel, Germany, to be the head coach of a soccer camp there.
